A Sioux tipi raising and smudging ceremony took place Aug. 1 at Joy Meadows Farm in the Helena Valley.
Organizers said the event honors the wisdom of ancestors and the enduring strength of Indigenous lifeways.
The raising went quickly, giving those present ample time to reflect on their handiwork.
Art for the raising was produced by Native American artist Louise Ogemahgeshig Fischer.
Other activities were available in the family-friendly environment, including hand prints and chalk drawings.
