BURNET COUNTY, Texas — A man has been arrested following a crash that killed five people in Burnet County last week.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) say a pickup truck pulling a livestock trailer crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 281, near Park Road 4, around 6 p.m. on July 25.

The truck hit a car head-on, then slammed into an SUV behind it, DPS said. The SUV flipped and caught fire, killing all five people inside.

The victims have been identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez and Jacqueline Velazco. The drivers of the other vehicles survived with minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup was identified as Kody Lane Talley. He was arrested and booked into the Burnet County Jail on five counts of manslaughter.
