PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - One man has died and several other people were hurt when an SUV hit two people and then crashed into another car in the King neighborhood on Thursday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At about 11:46 a.m., officers responded to a report of a serious crash in the 5900 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one man dead and multiple people injured.

Police said a driver in a Ford Escape was speeding along Northeast MLK Jr. Boulevard when it veered onto the sidewalk near Northeast Jarrett Street and hit two men. A child was also nearly hit.

One of the men died at the scene, and the other was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
