A 53-year-old Niagara Falls man previously charged with numerous child sex assault offences dating as far back as the mid-1990s has now been charged with more than 81 additional crimes.

On Thursday, Niagara Regional Police said an investigation was launched in the spring after new allegations of historic sexual assaults were reported.

The investigation involved the NRP’s child abuse, internet child exploitation, homicide and centralized fraud units, along with uniform patrol.

Police said it culminated with investigators laying 81 charges for offences committed between 1991 and 1994 that involve 16 victims — 14 boys and two girls — ranging in age from eight to 17.
