BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in September of 2024.

Jalyn Washington, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities responded to the 2400 block of Highland Road, where Donald Trim, 40, was shot and killed near the AM Mart.

Officials say Trim was standing outside the business with his family members when Washington started shooting at the group of people.

Trim was injured by one bullet and died at the scene from his injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
