SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - We’re Getting Answers on an issue taking over Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, and surrounding towns, even in our own parking lot.

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources put on their website that they are overwhelmed with these reports. You may have noticed this insect near your homes, on your cars, and especially near sappy plants and trees.

We happened to stumble upon them in our own backyard, and when we went to report it– the following message came up:

“Did you report a spotted lanternfly sighting? Due to the high volume of reports the Massachusetts department of agricultural resources may not be able to respond directly if your report came from one of the following cities or towns with known infestations.”
