NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is denying a New York Times report that he recently spoke with President Donald Trump about the race for New York City mayor.

It comes amidst multiple reports that Trump is considering weighing in on the race on behalf of either Cuomo or Mayor Eric Adams-- in an effort to defeat Democratic Nominee Zohran Mamdani.

Cuomo said he has not reached out to Trump in more than a year, and he firmly rejected the idea of seeking or accepting the President's endorsement.

“I left a message after the attempted assassination. I don’t believe I spoke with him. I believe I left a message," Cuomo said, calling the NYT story false. "I’m not seeking anyone’s support."
