OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Is your child up to date on vaccines before school starts? The deadline is approaching! OU Health is offering extended hours this week to help parents get students ready.
"They're going to be in close quarters with each other. Kids are not great about washing their hands and using Kleenex, and so it's an easy way to help protect kids from getting sick," said Dr. Stephanie DeLeon, Associate Chief Medical Officer, OU Children's.
Dr. DeLeon with OU Children's said Oklahomans are under-vaccinated. A 2025 WalletHub survey shows Oklahoma ranks 48th for immunization rates in children and teenagers.
