Venus Williams said an early goodbye to the Cincinnati Open after falling to Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-4. The former world No. 1 put up a good fight against one of the sensations of the Canadian Open, the Spaniard who reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinals just a few days ago.

In front of a full stadium ready to see the 45-year-old legend once again, Williams gave a more than dignified battle, but it was not enough for her to advance. The world No. 643 says goodbye to the tournament in the first round but still has her next commitment scheduled for the US Open mixed doubles, where she received a wildcard to play alongside Reilly Opelka.
