DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Staley Boat Ramp will close on Monday for an improvement project.

Starting August 11, the ramp will not be accessible to the public until the project is complete. The City of Decatur says the improvements should be done be the start of November.

The project will replace the existing boat ramp with a longer ramp that has a reduced slope. The city says this will ensure safer launches for longer boats.

The area will also get shoreline stabilization and updated landscaping.

While the ramp is inaccessible, the city says boaters should use the other open ramps at Nelson Park, Faries Park and along Lake Shore Drive.
