CENTRAL HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) -- New York City officials gathered Thursday to address the growing concern regarding the cluster of Legionnaires' disease cases in Central Harlem.
As of Thursday afternoon, three people had died of the disease. There were 73 positive cases with 23 currently hospitalized.
Dr. Michelle Morse, the Acting Health Commissioner and Chief Medical Officer of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, spoke to the public, providing specific details about the disease and the spread.
"All of the towers that tested positive have been treated with antibacterial treatment to end the spread of bacteria. That was done urgently last week, because we know this bacteria grows and spreads quickly," said Morse.
