HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- The rail bridge above Harrisburg's Front Street has been 12 feet, 6 inches for decades. PennDOT wants to make that very, very clear.
Tractor-trailer trucks getting stuck or slicing their roofs clean off have been a regular occurrence for years at the bridge, located near the UMPC Harrisburg Hospital.

Back in 2022, the city and PennDOT made efforts to reduce the number of accidents. A sign warning drivers of the height restriction went up at the intersection of Front Street and Chestnut Street, which is the last place for trucks to turn to avoid the bridge. PennDOT added another sign further up at Front Street's intersection with Verbeke Street.
