RIDGEWAY, S.C. — Two health clinics in Fairfield County are set to close permanently later this month, leaving many residents concerned about access to care in the rural community.

Cooperative Health, one of South Carolina’s largest nonprofit healthcare systems, announced it will shut down the John Spratt Primary Care Center in Ridgeway and the Lake Monticello Family Practice in Jenkinsville on Monday, August 25.

The organization cites ongoing financial issues as the reason for the closures.

Fairfield County officials say they were informed that the closures are part of a broader effort to “right-size” the organization after over a year of financial difficulties.
