CLAY COUNTY — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a couple who was fishing located a body in the Missouri River Thursday.

The sheriff's office says the couple called 911 to report seeing a body in the river near 210 Highway and Edwards Road around 8:40 p.m.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found the man's body on the north side of the river. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division assisted with recovery efforts.

Due to the state of the body the man's identity is yet to be determined. Investigation is ongoing.
