BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, also known as Louisiana Blue, confirms the company has cut jobs at several of its locations across the state.

However, a Louisiana Blue spokesperson declined to provide WAFB with an exact number of jobs the company has eliminated.

The insurance company, which employs about 3,000 people across the state, blamed some of the job cuts on expiring subsidies from the Affordable Care Act.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission says it has not received any WARN notices from Blue Cross. That notice would be required if the company has a reduction of 50 or more employees within a 30-day period.

Blue Cross is the largest health insurance provider in Louisiana.
