ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman accused of causing a deadly crash that killed a South Fulton police captain will remain in jail after a judge denied her bond for the second time on Thursday.
Santoria McLean, 31, is charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, improper driving, reckless driving and speeding in connection with an April crash that claimed the life of Capt. Helio Anthony Garcia III.
The wreck happened at the intersection of Flat Shoals Road and Connell Road in Union City.
According to investigators, McLean crossed the center line and slammed head-on into Garcia’s patrol vehicle. He was on duty at the time. The prosecution said McLean was traveling 98 mph in a 45 mph zone with double the legal blood alcohol content at .194%.
