HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Convicted sex offender and former Diamondhead City Councilman Alan Moran filed a motion to get out of prison and back on probation.

Thursday, he appeared in circuit court to plead his case.

Moran has spent a month-and-a-half in the state prison in Green County. It’s his first trip to prison; up until June, he had only spent time in county jail.

A judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison after his probation was revoked because of an indictment in a bribery case that involves the convicted sex offender’s father, former state senator Philip Moran, and two other co-defendants.

In court Thursday, defense attorney Donald Rafferty asked Judge Christopher Schmidt to delay the hearing because of new evidence that is critical to the argument, he argued.
