MOORHEAD — The Moorhead Police Department has recruited another Fargo police captain to lead officers across the Red River.

Moorhead announced Thursday, Aug. 7, that its law enforcement agency hired Fargo Capt. William Ahlfeldt. The nearly 25-year police veteran will serve as the Moorhead assistant police chief, according to a news release.

The news comes about four months after Moorhead named another captain from across the river to lead its police force. Fargo Capt. Chris Helmick was sworn in as the Moorhead police chief April 14.

Helmick oversaw the Fargo Police Department’s Professional Standards Division. He started at the agency in 2001, the same year as Ahlfeldt.
