AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District has filed a complaint to reverse the recent reinstatement of counselor Delinda Dykes, who was accused of discriminating against LGBTQ+ students.

The decision to file the appeal came after a unanimous vote by the Regional School Committee, with an 8-0 vote and one member absent, during a meeting on July 29.

The district is seeking to overturn a previous ruling that allowed Dykes to return to her position following a Title IX investigation conducted in 2023.

The Chair of the Regional School Committee stated, "The Regional School Committee remains deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and equitable learning environment for all students."
