Playful Pup Returned for Being “Too Active” Faces Shelter Life Again, Needs Second Chance

At just five months old, a young pup named Asher nearly lost his life. Adopted from Tulsa Animal Services in Oklahoma only an hour before his scheduled euthanasia, his rescue felt like a miracle. For Kayla Crabtree, a devoted volunteer at the shelter, the adoption brought tears of joy. She had grown incredibly fond of Asher, calling him a bundle of energy and affection.

But just weeks after his adoption, the miracle unraveled.

The family who had taken Asher returned him with a single complaint—he was “too active.” For Crabtree and others at the shelter, the reasoning was heartbreaking. Asher had done nothing wrong. He was simply being a puppy—joyful, playful, eager to run, learn, and love.
