CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- Beef is part of many Americans' diets, but due to higher prices, some may start walking away from the meat section at the grocery store.

Beef prices are nearing record highs in America as many people are now paying more at the supermarket and restaurants are raising prices.

If they are not raising prices, they are losing profits. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of a pound of ground beef reached $6.12 in June, a nearly 12% increase over the past year. There are many factors that go into rising costs and some areas of the country are impacted more.
