LEWISTON, Maine — The Lewiston police chief announced his retirement Thursday after serving 33 years in the department, according to a news release.
David St. Pierre has been the chief for the past four years, but the Lewiston native will step down Sept. 9, 2025.
“My 33-year career with the Lewiston Police Department has been nothing short of fantastic, so very rewarding and challenging at the same time," St. Pierre said. "I truly appreciate each and every one of my colleagues and will miss you all deeply. It has been a pleasure being your Chief."
St. Pierre led the department through the Lewiston mass shooting on Oct. 25, 2023. Lewiston police said the chief delivered a coordinated, disciplined response across local, state, and federal agencies, while guiding police officers and the
