OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — A 50-year-old man died late Thursday night after the motorcycle he was driving struck a tree in Old Orchard Beach.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near 138 Temple Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m. on August 7, Old Orchard Beach police said in a press release. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a motorcycle that had crashed into a tree.

The rider, who was from Old Orchard Beach, died at the scene, police said.

Police identified the motorcyclist who died as Scott Cohen of Old Orchard Beach.

An initial investigation indicates the motorcycle had been traveling northwest on Temple Avenue when Cohen lost control and veered off the road, striking the tree, according to police. No other vehicles or individuals are believed to have been involved.
