SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Memorial Health's chief of trauma spoke to WSAV Thursday after the hospital treated multiple victims injured in Wednesday's shooting at Fort Stewart.

Memorial Health chief of trauma Dr. James Dunne once served as chief of trauma in both the Navy and Army. He said Wednesday’s shooting on Ft. Stewart brought back memories of treating wounded soldiers.

“That was essentially what my job was when I was in the Navy, taking care of the casualties that came back from Iraq and Afghanistan, mostly the U.S Marines, but also the Army soldiers,” Dunne said.

Now at a level one trauma center, he said the urgency, preparation and teamwork that he once saw in combat still applies here at home. They have a team on standby 24/7.
