PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man has been sentenced for his role in a deadly crash in 2024.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Walter Sarmiento Perdomo pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

In addition to the 15-year sentence, Perdomo received a lifetime license revocation. He will also be detained by ICE upon his release; it is unclear why.

On July 13, 2024, Perdomo was driving northbound on North Green Street in Escambia County when his 2008 Nissan Pathfinder collided with a tree. His front passenger, a 42-year-old woman, died in the crash.

Perdomo had a Blood Alcohol Concentration of more than two times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
