A deadly Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Harlem continues to grow.
Three people have died in the last two weeks, according to officials. Twenty-four people are currently hospitalized, and there have been at least 81 confirmed cases.
City health officials linked the outbreak to several cooling towers in the central Harlem area. Currently, there is an ongoing investigation of buildings located in five zip codes.
In response, community leaders and elected officials have taken to the streets of Harlem to educate New Yorkers and dispel misinformation about the outbreak.
