BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — The Zoneton Fire Protection District announced plans Thursday to fund a two-ambulance EMS department out of its main firehouse. The plan will cost about $5.6 million to get off the ground, according to the chief.

"The population --everyone's starting to come in and move in to Bullitt County. We're projected on the back of Zoneton Rd. to get a few neighborhoods for up to 500 homes," Chief Kevin Moulton said.

Zoneton covers 53 square miles in north-central Bullitt County. Bullitt County EMS currently covers the whole county, although Mt. Washington has has its own fire-based EMS department since 2021.

Moulton said he doesn't think the county EMS service is doing a bad job, but he does think they need help.
