PAGE, AZ (AZFamily) — Summer time is usually the peak tourism season for communities up in the High Country. However, this year it’s not bringing in the money it typically does.

From low lake levels at Lake Powell to economic problems across the country, leaders in Page said tourism is down, and it’s impacting local businesses.

Father and daughter, Oscar and Addison Lacayo, hit the lake every year with their family. “When you’re all together as a family and you’re just having those moments that, like, you know one day when he hits the hay, we’re going to have Lake Powell to look back on,” Addison said.

However, according to the National Park Service , lake levels are down about 30 feet from this time last year. Now, they’re warning boaters to launch at their own risk.
