MARICOPA, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities say one person has died after a fire engulfed a home in Maricopa early Friday morning.

Just before 5:30 a.m., Maricopa Fire-Medical Department was called to a house fire in a neighborhood near Honeycutt and Porter roads. A woman told crews that she and another person got out of the home separately, but she was unsure if the other person had went back inside.

Firefighters searched the home and found the person unconscious in the backyard. Crews rushed the victim to the hospital, where they died. That person has not been publicly identified.

Arizona’s Family news chopper witnessed multiple fire engines extending hose lines into the house. Firefighters were also climbing up onto the roof to get inside.
