JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) - Greater Johnstown's football program has been frequently in the news cycle this past offseason. The school board opted not to renew former NFL player Antwuan Reed's head coaching contract and replace him with last year's offensive coordinator, Tony Penna Jr.
Due to PIAA and District VI rulings, those groups believe the coaching change is what sparked star players and Antwuan's sons, Julius and Zymir, to transfer to Bishop McCort. Greater Johnstown fought those transfers, which eventually led to them being ruled ineligible for the Crushers this upcoming season.
This isn't Penna Jr.'s first rodeo leading Greater Johnstown. During his first Trojans tenure as head coach from 2010-2018, Penna Jr. accumulated a 59-44 record with three district titles or subregional cham
