LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Senator Mitch McConnell had some words of caution about new U.S. tariffs that went into effect around the world Thursday.
He expressed concern about how the tariffs might affect relations with military allies.
“Now, my personal view on the tariff thing,” McConnell said, “it doesn’t really help to get involved in a bunch of disputes with all of our allies who were going to need to be enthusiastically on our side.”
McConnell’s comments came during an appearance at the Pendennis Club.
The presentation was a retrospective of McConnell’s long career that drew applause from an appreciative crowd.
