Pollok, a small suburb of Lufkin on the way to Wells, is home to a man who is being charged for an immigration violation. According to the United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of Texas , he is living here illegally.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R.Combs announced the indictment of Jose de Jesus Pineda-Torres, 43. The federal grand jury is charging him with illegal reentry by a previously deported alien.

The indictment states that on July 11, 2025, Pineda-Torres was found in the Eastern District of Texas after being deported three times. The case is part of Operation Take Back America.
