LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - A historic Lake City landmark will no longer be owned by the city for the first time in more than nine decades. That’s because time isn’t on the side of the structure.
The historic Club House in Lake City is locked up for now, but it may soon get the repairs it needs now that city council members voted unanimously to deed the building back over to the Woman’s Club.
“It was a long process, I think, to get the history of it done, and the paperwork that the city had to go through to get us to where we are now,” shared Stephanie Bennett, President of the Woman’s Club.
Owned by the city since 1934, this building has been used to house troops, a library, and many events.
