PAAUILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii Fire Department is battling a brush fire in Paauilo on Hawaii Island.

The fire broke out shortly at around 2:40 p.m., makai of Highway 19 and Hauola Road, about a quarter of a mile from the highway.

Crews estimate the fire is burning about 10 acres.

Video shows thick smoke and flames from a ranch in the area.

First responders are on scene and have asked the public to avoid the area as they continue to fight the blaze.

No evacuations have been ordered at this time.
