WASHINGTON — It was a mosquito sound that neighbors in Connecticut Heights could hear on Thursday, as the DC Department of Health's Division of Animal Services warned residents that their crews had collected positive samples of West Nile Virus.

"DOH has conducted mosquito surveillance in your neighborhood," reads the letter sent to residents in the Northwest D.C. neighborhood. "The findings from mosquitoes collected have resulted in the identification of positive samples for West Nile Virus."
