A massive joint investigation has led to the arrests of more than a dozen suspects in one of the largest drug trafficking cases in Lowndes County history.

In early 2024, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office STING Unit, working alongside the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), began investigating a drug trafficking organization (DTO) with ties across multiple states.

Investigators identified the organization’s alleged leader as Larry Jones, Jr., based in Lowndes County.
