CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The first year of recreational marijuana business in Ohio saw $702M in sales with more than 9 million transactions occurring since August 6, 2024.

Taxed at 10%, that brought in $70.2M to the state, with additional sales tax also included.

The $700M falls short of the high expectations for the industry when Issue 2 passed in Ohio in 2023. Initial projections had recreational marijuana as a billion dollar industry annually.

That mark was hit in total marijuana sales for the last year, which would include recreational and medical marijuana sales.
