TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Leon County Schools resume Monday, and officials are highlighting important safety reminders for the new school year.

LCS Superintendent Rocky Hanna, along with Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell and Leon County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Walk McNeil, held a press conference Thursday morning.

Speeders beware

During the conference, officials reminded citizens to slow down as there will be nearly 30,000 kids walking and riding to school through the county on Monday.

Drivers can anticipate stepped-up patrols in school zones in the coming days. Specifically, TPD Chief Revell said speed cameras will be present in nearly 30 different school zones and operational from 30 minutes before the first bell to 30 minutes after the school day ends.
