LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Everywhere you look, there are trees in East Texas, but one tree that was recently chopped down in Lufkin is getting special attention.
“The moral of the story is the tree is down; the stump is in my yard, and it will make a great conversation piece for a lifetime,” homeowner Lillie Myers said.
On McGregor Drive in Lufkin used to sit an oak tree in the middle of the street. While the road isn’t an ideal home for a tree, Myers said it isn’t the first one she’s seen in an unusual spot. But, still, it was a surprise when she moved in four years ago.
“As soon as we were pulling up to McGregor, the first thing I saw even before the house was this tree,” Myers said.
The tree was recently chopped down. After seeing the change, many shared their memories of the tree’s lo
