MESA, AZ (AZFamily) —Authorities say an East Valley father has been arrested after his baby girl died after being found with “catastrophic injuries” at a Mesa apartment nearly two weeks ago.

Mesa police arrested 22-year-old Jonathan Enriquez on Wednesday and booked him into the Maricopa County jail on accusations of first-degree murder and felony child abuse.

In court papers, authorities described receiving reports on the morning of July 11 of a baby not breathing at an apartment near University Drive and Gilbert Road. Officers arrived to find the infant unresponsive. First responders rushed the baby to the hospital in critical condition.
