AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The family of a teen injured in a hit-and-run crash says the alleged driver doesn’t have insurance, meaning their car won’t be repaired.

According to Aurora police, the crash happened Friday morning, on South Buckley Road, near South Pitkin, involving a total of three vehicles.

Gabriel Lucero says he was hit from behind. He says the male driver who hit him then tried to run away.

Lucero says he went after the man, eventually tackling him and holding him down until police arrived.

Lucero, who heads back for his high school senior year next week, says he still suffers from whiplash and a sore back.

Lucero’s mother, Lorrena, says she recently found out the alleged at-fault driver does not have insurance.
