LEE COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified a victim killed in a fiery Thursday night crash on I-20 in Lee County that involved multiple vehicles.

Lee County officials said the crash involved two 18-wheelers and a passenger van. The resulting emergency response shut down a section of I-20 near Mile Marker 116 in Lee County for an extended period, according to Lee County Fire Rescue.

Emergency crews were sent to the scene at 8:17 p.m. When they arrived, crews said they found one 18-wheeler on fire that also had significant damage. Another 18-wheeler was overturned and its load was spilled across the interstate. The passenger van was engulfed in flames.

In a phone interview with News19, Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon described the scene as "horrific."
