SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - Workers at Mount Holyoke College rallied Thursday, demanding better wages and new union contracts as the upcoming semester approaches.

The facilities and dining hall workers have been without union contracts since June 30, when their previous agreements expired.

Negotiations for new contracts began in March, but the college administration has not agreed to the workers' demands, which include a living wage and an employer-paid legal fund. The rally took place outside the main entrance of the college on Thursday afternoon, organized by the Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ.

"Some of the things that we're asking for, like the legal fund, which would help out a lot of the staff, they do not agree on and will not budge on," said Harry Rodriguez, a
