Children's toilet habit could be diabetes symptom, experts say

Type 1 diabetes usually starts showing symptoms in children and young adults, although it can happen at any age. But parents are urged to be wary of four red flags of diabetes, known as the 4 ‘t’s of diabetes according to Diabetes UK - toilet, thirsty, tired, and thinner.

Diabetes can cause high blood sugar levels, and the body tries to flush out this extra glucose through urination. Children needing to go to the toilet a lot more than usual, getting up during the night to wee or bed wetting when they were previously a dry sleeper can be a key warning sign of diabetes.
