ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Thursday, one of two defendants allegedly connected to the fatal shooting of a 6-month-old baby rejected a plea deal in court.

The attorney for Sharice Ingram told Judge Shermela J. Williams that they wanted to review the deal more thoroughly before deciding whether to take it.

The young victim’s mother, Kerri Gray, watched on.

“I made a promise to him to see this through, and I will, with every breath in me, hold that promise,” said Gray in an interview with Atlanta News First.

In January 2022, Gray was driving when her son, Grayson Fleming-Gray, was hit by a bullet while riding in his car seat in northwest Atlanta. The 6-month-old died of his injuries.
