OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - North Omaha residents are weighing in on the future of a major development project.
The Omaha Inland Port Authority invited residents and business owners to a workshop Thursday night.
The organization wants the public’s input on how to use $30 million from the Nebraska Legislature for the North Omaha Innovation District Plan.
The goal of the plan is to grow the area economically by spurring job creation and supporting both start-ups and existing businesses.
“Part of this is tied to the community wanting to see different types of businesses land in their community and so some of the conversations have been about entrepreneurship, about Black-owned businesses being supported and uplifted, and also looking at incubator systems and models,” said Garry Clark, OPIA Execu
