DENVER (KDVR) — A head-on crash in Grand County killed a driver and sent three others, including two children, to local hospitals on Thursday, according to the state patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Highway 40 near milepost 173. The two-vehicle crash involved a black Subaru Crosstrek that crossed the center line and collided head-on with a silver Kia sedan, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The patrol reported that the driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene, and two children were flown by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
CSP said the 55-year-old female driver of the Subaru was also flown to an area hospital for treatment.
The patrol is investigating the crash, and as of 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Highway 40 was closed
