RIDLEY TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is on the run after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, who then drove herself to a nearby Wawa for help Thursday night.

Action News has learned that the shooting is linked to a barricade situation that ended early Friday morning.

Police have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Kariem Muhammad.

The investigation started around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when sources say a gunshot victim called 911, saying she had been shot in the back.

The 32-year-old woman was in a car at the time and decided to pull over at the Wawa in the 1900 block of West MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township.

Chopper 6 was overhead as officers from Ridley and Chester surrounded a white SUV in the parking lot that appeared to have its rear windshield shot out.
