ELKHORN, Wis. (WISN) -- Republican Rep. Bryan Steil is speaking out after a contentious town hall in Walworth County.
Last week, Steil faced his constituents in Elkhorn for more than an hour, during which attendees booed and jeered him.
According to our Milwaukee affiliate, when asked whether he is concerned about the upcoming midterm elections, Steil said he is not. "I don't think that minority of protesters is representative of the people of the state of Wisconsin," Steil said. "What I really think it shows there's a lot of energy on both sides of the aisle."
There is a national debate over the nature of town halls. Republicans contend they are being hijacked by left-wing activists, while Democrats say the public is genuinely outraged.
Steil said he will continue to hold town halls.
