Hundreds of custom cars, classics and hot rods are expected to be on display this weekend as a once-beloved event is revived on the city’s north side after 11 years.

The Fort Wayne Muddy River Run takes place today through Saturday at the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus. A previous iteration of the vintage car show ran from 1975 to 2014 and was operated by the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association.

The new event is organized by Mark Mendenhall, who had attended the previous iteration, but was not associated with its operation. He also operates the Fort Wayne Rod & Custom Show, an indoor car event, which is next scheduled for March 27-29 at Memorial Coliseum.
